Dr. Simpson personally handles each aspect of the psychological evaluation, which consists of the following components:
-
Step 1: Consult
Dr. Simpson offers a concise, 15-minute complimentary consultation call to engage in a preliminary discussion regarding the specific services the client seeks. During this initial consultation, the primary focus is to explore the client's requirements and to facilitate scheduling arrangements.
-
Step 2: Developmental Interview
Dr. Simpson will conduct an extensive developmental interview with a parent or primary caregiver. This telehealth session is typically allotted a two-hour timeframe, although it may not necessarily require the entire duration.
-
Self-Report Forms
Based on the specific nature of the evaluation, Dr. Simpson may request your participation in several distinct at-home standardized assessments. In such cases, following the Developmental Interview, you will receive an email from Dr. Simpson containing links for accessing these various assessment forms. Timely completion of these assessments within a 2-3 day timeframe is imperative to ensure the evaluation process proceeds efficiently and effectively.
-
Step 3: Testing Appointments
Following the conclusion of the developmental interview, the client will be arranged for in-person testing sessions. The scheduling of these appointments will be contingent on several factors, including the client's age and the specific requirements of the evaluation. The assessment process may unfold in either a single, extended 3-hour session or may be divided into multiple appointments, distributed across several sessions.
This evaluation process is notably interactive in nature and encompasses a variety of tasks, encompassing paper and pencil exercises, hands-on activities, verbal responses to questions, and, on occasion, computer-based tasks as deemed appropriate for the evaluation objectives.
-
Step 4: Feedback
Following the conclusion of the testing phase, the obtained results are meticulously scored, comprehensively interpreted, and systematically compiled into a comprehensive psychological report. Approximately 2 to 3 weeks subsequent to the final testing session, a dedicated feedback session will be scheduled.
In cases involving individuals under the age of 13, only parents are required to attend this session. However, children over the age of 13 are encouraged to participate at their discretion. Dr. Simpson will facilitate this appointment, during which he will lead the family through a thorough review of the assessments conducted during the evaluation. Additionally, he will engage in discussions regarding any pertinent diagnoses and provide valuable insights regarding the subsequent steps that will optimally support the child.
The primary objective of the feedback session is to empower the family with a comprehensive understanding of the evaluation findings, adopting a holistic perspective that encompasses the entire individual. This session aims to equip the family with the knowledge and guidance needed to implement supportive measures and interventions that facilitate the child's holistic development.
It is important to note that feedback sessions are conducted via Telehealth for your convenience.
-
Evaluation Report
Subsequent to the conclusion of the feedback session, a comprehensive written report is furnished, encompassing a concise summary of the client's background information, a meticulous integration and interpretation of the evaluation results, and a detailed description of each assessment administered and their corresponding outcomes. The report further includes any pertinent diagnoses when indicated, along with well-considered recommendations for future considerations.
Typically, this comprehensive report will be made available within approximately 1-2 weeks following the conclusion of the feedback session. At the client's request, and upon securing written consent to share the report, it can be disseminated to other pertinent parties who may have a vested interest in the client's well-being, such as educational institutions, psychiatrists, psychologists, pediatricians, among others.
